Now that I am back in New York, I had to take upon the daunting task of conslidating my 2 pc's: one running AMD Athlon XP 2100 and the other AMD Athlon 64 3400. Needless to say I am moving everything to the computer running 64-bit processor. The problem is that I have used both pc's and back forth and I have tons of data stored on both of them. The Athlon XP has 1 hard drive with 120 GB space. The Athlon 64 has 2 hard drivers with 120 GB and 160 GB space. From this point on I will refer to the Athlon XP as the older pc and Athlon 64 as the newer pc.
I started off by instaling a fresh copy of Window XP w/SP2 on the 120 GB drive of the newer pc. I than proceeded to partition my 160 GB hard drive into 3 partitions, labeled: VMWare, Software and Multimedia. The "Software" partition will contain all my downloaded appz. It is currently using up about 30GB out of the 60GB allocated to it. The "Multimedia" partition will eventually contain all my pictures, music and videos. It is currently using up 40 GB out of the 70 GB allocated to it.
The VMWare partition is my where I will be storing several virtual machines created by the VMWare software. Currently it only has Windows XP, but I plan to soon install Windows 2003. I may also install a another windows in the future and perhaps even a version of Linux. I will also assign some space on the 120 GB hard drive (new PC) for saving DVD images. My Goal is to get the most out out of this machine and DVD Burner =)
